Training

Children learn best outside! Evidence indicates that being outdoors supports children’s physical, cognitive, and sensory development. This workshop will discuss why outdoor learning can be best for children. We will reflect on adapting schedules, supplies, and policies to increase your amount of time spent outdoors. Participants will plan and share ideas for play and learning, even in cold and rainy weather. This training includes topics that address "diverse learners.

Linda Schumacher

Linda Schumacher has been in the early childhood field for over 40 years and has taught in center-based, public school special education, private school and her own family child care program where she successfully included children with disabilities. Linda holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Vermont and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Fitchburg State College. Currently, Linda is a state-wide trainer and coach, supporting the important people who educate and care for young children. She loves gardening and most any other activity outside.
